The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine is pleased to have Jamie Washington return for part two of his presentation on diversity and inclusion to coincide with Black History Month. “Introduction to Diversity and Inclusion: Awareness – Action II” will be held Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at noon in the Student Commons Area (M210).

This session will feature interactive discussion and personal reflection to explore various models describing diversity and differences and will recognize the importance of self-awareness as a means of effective engagement. During the session, participants will adopt basic skills for engaging across differences and create steps for continuing their diversity journeys.

Washington is president and founder of the Washington Consulting Group and is an internationally known speaker, consultant, trainer, and writer.

Virginia Tech Carilion employees, students, and associates are invited to participate in the workshop, which will count two hours toward requirements for earning a Diversity Associate Certificate. The event is part of a series of workshops the school is offering in collaboration with Virginia Tech’s Diversity Development Institute this year.
