  • VTCSOM’s Richard Vari serving as president of the International Association of Medical Science Educators

    Richard Vari, senior dean for academic affairs at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, is serving as president of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE). His two-year term began Jan. 1. IAMSE is a nonprofit professional development society for health professions education. The organization seeks to promote “excellence and innovation in teaching, student assessment, program evaluation, instructional technology, human simulation, and learner-centered education.”
  • VTCSOM's Richard Vari wins prestigious national award for medical student education

    Richard C. Vari, senior dean for academic affairs at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, won the Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award. The prestigious award provides national recognition to faculty members who have distinguished themselves in medical student education. Each LCME-accredited medical school in the United States and Canada may nominate only one faculty member each year for the honor.

    Richard (Rick) Vari, senior dean for Academic Affairs and professor of physiology at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, has been named the first recipient of the “Outstanding Reviewer Award” by the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE).
