Nucleotide Repeat Expansions: Inflammation, Neurodegeneration, and the Role of MicroRNA in Pathogenesis
Scheduled for Mar 20, 2015 Nucleotide Repeat Expansions: Inflammation, Neurodegeneration, and the Role of MicroRNA in Pathogenesis
March 20, 2015, 1 p.m.
Erin Pennock Foff, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Neurology, Cognitive Neurology Division, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia
Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute, M106 2 Riverside Circle, Roanoke, VA 24016
Nucleotide repeat disorders (NRDs) are some of the most feared and debilitating neurodegenerative and neuromuscular diseases. In her seminar, Dr. Foff will discuss the role of inflammation in mediating muscle damage in myotonic dystrophy, and explore a potential unifying mechanism amongst NRDs.
