AD-2010 Criminal Background Check

1.0        Procedure

VTC requires a criminal background check for all applicants who matriculate at VTCSOM. The AAMC partners with MyCertiphi to provide criminal background checks for all applicants who receive offers; VTC reviews those reports when they are released to the school. The results of this background check may affect the student’s eligibility to enter the program.

Students are expected to self-report any arrests and/or convictions to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs at the time they occur. Discovery of the student’s failure to do would be considered unprofessional conduct and could result in a referral to the MSPPC for a student disciplinary hearing under the conditions outlined in the Violations of the Honor Code, Attributes of Professionalism and/or Teacher-Learner Compact Policy.
