Climate and culture survey - Academic Year 2021-2022
VTCSOM Climate and Culture Survey 2022
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2022 VTCSOM Climate and Culture Survey. This survey was developed using the Diversity Engagement Survey developed by the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS), DataStar, and the AAMC and internally developed questions on equity with input from members of the VTCSOM DEI team and the Council for Diversity and Inclusion. The survey comprised of 28 items and rated on a Likert scale. This climate and culture survey is one of the tools we will use to measure our progress in our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and demonstrates our accountability to the entire VTCSOM community.
The survey was rolled out in February 2022 and responses collated over a six-week period. In total we received 425 survey responses. We surveyed seven stakeholder groups, namely VTCSOM medical students (M1, M2, M3, and M4 classes), residents & fellows, faculty, and staff. There were varying response rates between the groups with staff having the highest response rate and residents & fellows the lowest.
Summary of Results: The mean responses for the above metrics were rated overall as being in the moderate extent with the range of responses varying widely from not at all to a great extent. It is in this variance and the free text responses that we aim to further analyze as we work towards our stated goals. Full survey results can be found using the links below.
