The Narrative Behind The Numbers

The Narrative Behind the Numbers: Centering Black Women’s Clinical Experiences and Health is a FREE public lecture hosted by the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine that examines how race and gender influence Black women’s health and clinical care. Led by Breana Turner, Ph.D.(c), M.P.H., CHES, the talk centers lived experiences through Black Feminist Theory and the Superwoman Schema Framework to challenge data-driven narratives that often overlook context and humanity. The event includes a reception, lecture, and Q&A, with both in-person and Zoom attendance available.
