Professional Background

Dr. Greenberg is the Chair of Family and Community Medicine at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Carilion Clinic since January 2026.  He previously served for 9 years as the Leonard Parker Pool Endowed Chair of Family Medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA, where he served since 2016 as the Leonard Parker Pool Endowed Chair of Family Medicine. Earlier in his career, Dr. Greenberg spent 16 years at the University of Michigan, where had multiple operational, academic, and system-wide leadership roles.  Dr. Greenberg attended the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, also completed his residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Michigan.  He holds a master’s degree in health systems administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Before enrolling in medical school, Dr. Greenberg also received a master's degree in Ecology and Environmental Biology at Indiana University, Bloomington IN. With multiple peer reviewed publications and a track record as a national thought leader in Family Medicine, he has a deep commitment to education and a proven ability to lead.
