Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)

The LCME is the nationally recognized accrediting authority for medical education programs leading to the M.D. degree in the United States and Canada. It is jointly sponsored by the Association for American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association. The LCME visited the school in October 2018 to evaluate the educational program and any changes made because of the medical school’s integration into Virginia Tech as its newest college on July 1, 2018. The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) continued full accreditation for the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine for a period of eight years. With the eight-year term, the next LCME full survey visit for the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine will take place in the 2026-27 academic year.
