Educational Affairs Team
The Office of Educational Affairs oversees undergraduate medical education at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, along with the programs that support and enrich the student learning experience. At the heart of our efforts is the Patient-Centered Curriculum, an innovative, integrated program that spans all four years of medical school. It blends foundational science, clinical skills, immersive research, and health systems science and interprofessional healthcare education to prepare students for the complexities of modern medicine.
Our curriculum is continuously refined to ensure the highest standards of quality and relevance. Students benefit from robust learning support, including through our Standardized Patient Program and Simulation Center, which provide realistic, hands-on training in a safe and supportive environment.
The Office also offers institutional expertise in student assessment, faculty and curriculum development, educational research, program evaluation, academic technology, and accreditation. Our faculty and staff are committed to supporting students not only academically, but also professionally and personally throughout their medical education journey.
