Office of Educational Affairs
The Office of Educational Affairs at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) serves as the central hub for advancing medical education excellence through innovative curriculum development, faculty support, and educational scholarship. We are committed to fostering an academic environment where educational excellence is embraced, valued, and recognized across the continuum of medical education.
Our office oversees the development and implementation of VTCSOM's cutting-edge medical curriculum, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and our Educational Program Objectives (EPOs) while adapting to meet the evolving needs of healthcare delivery. Through robust assessment and evaluation systems, we monitor student progress and program effectiveness, using data-informed approaches to continuously enhance our educational programs.
A cornerstone of our mission is supporting student and faculty growth and development. We do this by providing opportunities for professional growth, resources and support of faculty research within all four value domains, and fostering an environment where educational scholarship and innovation thrive. We actively pursue and manage educational grants to support innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, and research initiatives, further strengthening our position as a center of excellence in medical education innovation and research.
The Office of Educational Affairs is dedicated to supporting VTCSOM's mission of preparing the next generation of physician thought leaders through excellence in education, discovery, and clinical care. We work collaboratively across departments to ensure our educational programs remain at the forefront of medical education innovation while maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence.
