Message From Alumni Working Group Chair

Dear Fellow VTC Alumni,

I hope this message finds you safe and healthy. Since we graduated, the practice of medicine has already changed in so many ways. While these changes have brought new challenges, as Alumni of VTCSOM, you are equipped with the skills and dedication to provide your patients with the care that they deserve.

My goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to stay connected to the VTCSOM and Roanoke communities throughout each stage of your career. If you have any ideas, please don't hesitate to let myself or the Alumni Relations staff know. While it may be a while before we can gather in the Star City again, I look forward to keeping in touch and building a strong alumni community.

Respectfully yours,
Chris McLaughlin, Class of 2017

Did you have a personal or professional change?

Are you moving on to private practice, or a fellowship? Did you get married? Have a baby? Get published, receive an award, or promoted?
Please share your personal and professional joys with us so we can share with the VTCSOM community.

HOST Program

Since 2016, VTC School of Medicine Alumni Association sponsors the HOST program, where willing alumni provided lodging to our current students who were embarking on their residency interviews. This has been so well received, by both alumni and students; we are excited to continue the program. Learn more about this program and how you can contribute. Please note that for the 2020-21 year, the HOST program will be conducted virtually.

White Coat Ceremony - Alumni Letters

In 2017 we pioneered the alumni letter program as part of the White Coat Ceremony. As the students donned their White Coats for the first time, they found a surprise in the coat pockets - a letter from a VTCSOM alum!

These letters were so well received that we ask you, our alumni, to consider writing a student in the class a note that we will put in the pockets of their white coats.  It could be your reflections, advice, or a word of encouragement – really anything you think could be impactful for our newest students.
