Wet Anatomy Lab
The wet anatomy lab in the medical school’s primary building is primarily used for special training sessions for residents or medical students in a specialized anatomy fourth-year elective.
First year [and second year] VTCSOM students do cadaver dissection here at the VIAL - the Virginia Intercollegiate Anatomy Laboratory – a shared anatomy lab between the medical school and health professions programs at Radford University Carilion. This 8,000 square-foot lab, classroom, and storage area is located on the eighth-floor of Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital in downtown Roanoke. It accommodates 15 separate stations to teach up to 60 students – four per cadaver – at one time.
