The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine’s chapter of the national medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha recently welcomed its newest members. Six students, two residents, and two faculty members were inducted into the group at its annual dinner on April 10. Alpha Omega Alpha is a prestigious organization that recognizes excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals and professionalism in the medical profession.

Junior members who were inducted were: Lamvy Le and Brian Conor, both members of the class of 2019. Senior inductees were Jonathan Hootman, Lia Manfredi, Conor O’Neill, and Nikki Sood, each of whom will graduate in May. They joined last year’s junior inductees Scott Fligor and Caroline Reist.

This year’s guest speaker was Wiley Souba, M.D., M.B.A., Sc.D., professor of surgery and emeritus dean of the Department of Surgery at Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine. Souba has been regularly ranked as one of The Best Doctors in America by his peers and has outstanding credentials as a physician, researcher, and lecturer on diverse topics related to leadership in medicine.
