Research Live!

VTCSOM students typically identify potential mentors by attending a series of presentations called “Research Live!”, part of the first-year medical student research curriculum. These brief (15-20 minute) presentations occur from August through February of each academic year on most Fridays (1-2:20pm).

Researchers and physicians present brief synopses of their research, including future research topics and roles medical students can play on their research teams.  Students who are interested in a particular topic or role can then meet with the presenters to find some common ground.

Students must work with one of the many VTC faculty affiliates at the school, the research institution, one of our hospital or clinic sites, at Virginia Tech, within the local veteran’s hospital system, or other locations or labs where our faculty function.
