The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute is a unique organization as it folds fundamental research into the curriculum of medical students from the beginning of their education. Students learn to care for patients not only in a clinical setting, but also to explore and discover how aliments come to be and how they can be eradicated. The 2014 Research Day was the culmination of research work conducted by the medical students, under the supervision of faculty members.
