ProjectMED

The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine's ProjectMED collaboration with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) is a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing representation in medicine. This innovative program is designed to provide comprehensive resources and support systems to prepare students from varied backgrounds for successful entry into undergraduate medical education.
At the heart of ProjectMED is a commitment to equitable health care and health outcomes. ProjectMED leverages the rich educational resources and cultural heritage of these institutions to create a nurturing and empowering environment for aspiring medical professionals. ProjectMED aims to bridge the gap between students and the medical profession.

One of the key components of ProjectMED is its focus on holistic student development and fostering a culture of inclusivity within medical institutions. Recognizing that academic excellence alone is not sufficient for success in medical school, the program emphasizes the importance of personal growth, resilience, and community engagement.
