Dr. Thomas Kerkering, professor of internal medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and chief of infectious disease at Carilion Clinic, is currently in Sierra Leone working with the World Health Organization in the wake of the Ebola crisis. Kerkering is part of an effort to train caregivers in proper infection control techniques.
