Dr. Christopher Pierce has been named to serve as interim Co-Chair of Pediatrics with Dr. Donald Kees.

Since January 2020, Dr. Pierce has served as the Section Chief of General Pediatrics where he recruited new providers, coordinated care across four practice locations, helped manage the transition to the new Carilion Children’s Tanglewood Center, and led Carilion Clinic’s COVID-19 response for pediatrics.

He joined Carilion in 2001 and has held various leadership positions over the years, assisting with the growth and development of our pediatric care. Dr. Pierce is also Associate Professor in Pediatrics at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

We are grateful to Dr. Donald Kees for his service as interim Chair of Pediatrics since Dr. Dunsmore’s departure in November of 2020.   We look forward to seeing the ways Dr. Pierce will work with Dr. Kees and the pediatric team to support excellence in medical education and care for our communities!
