Wisdom

Katie LeSauvage

Over time and with experience, self-reflection, and learning – wisdom is gained. An intangible gift, understanding the workability of responses influences one’s life course. Those which move one closer to their desired life and those which move one further away – each choice offering an opportunity to develop the gift of wisdom. Through my personal experiences of both ease and struggle, I seek to share the personal wisdom I have gained thus far in my lifetime, with an on-going commitment to personal growth and evolution.

As a clinical psychologist, I use photography to facilitate mental health recovery among the Veterans I serve through the Salem VA Health Care System. As an individual in recovery, photography is a valuable tool to connect me with both my internal and external worlds. I appreciate photography's means of paving the way for mental health recovery by supporting the courage and vulnerability it takes to heal.

Navigate the Pull: Feel the pull of curiosity, love, and adventure. Likewise, feel the pull of overwhelm, fear, and isolation. Take responsibility for navigating these forces of approach and avoidance. Learn from the experience of following the pull. Become skilled at navigation through conscious attention to choice and outcome.
Guiding Light: As you navigate the pull of emotions, let your values serve as your guide. With the clarity of “what matters,” move forward with attention to the light. Resist the temptation of ease and habit. Move with conscious attention, embracing action that honors who you are and who you are becoming, in this moment and in this lifetime.
