The Gold Humanism Honor Society comprises individuals who have been recognized for practicing patient-centered medical care by modeling the qualities of integrity, excellence, compassion, altruism, respect and empathy. Members may be selected as third year medical students. Residents, faculty and administrators may also be recognized for humanistic practice at various stages in their careers. 

On March 19, 2018 six members of the class of 2019 and three faculty members at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine recently earned a top honor by being inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. The prestigious group, part of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, recognizes those who display a dedication to health-focused advocacy, a recognition of the power of community service, a commitment to personal excellence, and an empathic heart.
