Pathways for Undergraduates

Early Identification Program

Each year, VTCSOM accepts two students from groups who are underrepresented in medicine to an Early Identification Program that provides an intensive, paid medical school preparation during two summer sessions. Completing both summers of enrichment and maintaining all program requirements can help a participant become a competitive applicant to medical school.

Medical Exposure for Diverse Students Experience (MEDS)

Established in the spring of 2020, the MEDS Experience targets freshmen, sophomore and junior undergraduates at Virginia Tech students who are members of groups Underrepresented in Medicine and are planning careers in medicine and research. A primary goal of the MEDS Experience is to expand the students’ network and increase their awareness of opportunities in the health professions, with a specific focus becoming a physician.

Within Reach

Within Reach is an inspirational program designed to expose high school and college students to a range of health care careers as well as regional higher education programs that can help them get there.
