Faculty Mentor Program
From time to time individuals reach a personal challenge that would benefit from the advice of someone who once faced a similar issue. With that in mind, VTCSOM established the Faculty Mentor Program.
This optional program gives students the opportunity to be paired with an attending physician who once struggled during medical school or residency.
Students who are facing a personal or academic struggle should contact Dr. Emily Holt Foerst, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs & Director of Academic Counseling and Enrichment Services (ACES) so a mentoring relationship can be established.
Attendings assist with topics including, but not limited to:
- Test and/or General Anxiety
- Disabilities & Medicine
- Personal Balance & Medicine
- Block or Basic Science Coursework Struggles
- Burnout and/or Depression
