Background on the Topic for this evening
Over the past several decades there has been extensive research into the connections between oral and systemic health. In this lecture, a brief overview of these connections will be discussed, followed by a more in-depth presentation on new insights and therapeutic approaches to periodontal diseases and dementia. These will include the most up-to-date results of ongoing clinical trials that support the role of oral bacteria in the earliest stages of Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia.
