Turn to the Woods
Nancy Wu
Amidst damp trees and the last of the fall leaves on an Appalachian trail, my friend’s keffiyeh kept her warm as we both sought solace from the never-ending grief in Gaza. Its black and white pattern stood out against the muted oranges and browns of the fall. The contrast of this garment to its surroundings symbolizes hope that there will be an end to the horrific loss of life and a reminder of the resilience of the Palestinian people.
