We are excited to share that Dr. Cynthia Morrow is the new health director for the VDH Roanoke City and Alleghany Health District, effective today, September 1.  She will continue work part-time here at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. This important public health leadership position will add value to Dr. Morrow’s VTCSOM faculty role as co-leader of the Health Systems Science and Interprofessional Practice domain (HSSIP) domain, and will facilitate future collaborations.

Dr. Morrow’s new role is a win-win for VTCSOM and VDH. I look forward to working with her to create opportunities and synergies among the health district, medical school, and other organizations to advance the health of our region and community. Her experience in public health practice will serve our region well, particularly during the current pandemic.

In my conversations with Dr. Morrow about this opportunity I have been impressed by her vision for the health district, and her continued commitment to building an outstanding curriculum for the VTCSOM HSSIP domain with Dr. Karp.  Be sure to congratulate her on taking on this important leadership position for our community!

Sincerely,
Dean Lee Learman
