Through a combined initiative and desire to offer mentorship, students at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) have paired with the VTCSOM admissions team to form the VTCSOM Pre-Medical Mentorship Program.
This program aims to strengthen the relationship between VTCSOM and Virginia Tech's main campus in Blacksburg, and to foster positive relationships between successfully matriculated medical students and those undergraduate students who wish to pursue medical school. The program was recently expanded to include undergraduate students from Roanoke College.
By establishing this mentorship program with pre-medical students, VTCSOM students will have the unique opportunity to increase the visibility of our medical school among a select group of highly motivated, high-achieving students.
Medical students will help guide undergraduate mentees on an individual basis through decisions in the preparation process including the pursuit of allopathic vs. osteopathic programs, the admissions process, the MCAT, the MSAR, and prerequisite college courses, interviews, etc. The club will also host several full group activities throughout the year.
