Urology is a dynamic field, with a history of innovation and an unparalleled mix of clinical and surgical practice.
Resident training includes some of the most heavy operative experience in surgery and multiple fellowship opportunities including:
- oncology
- andrology
- female pelvic and reconstructive surgery
- minimally invasive surgery
- endourology
- pediatrics, and more!
While primarily an operative specialty, urology also has lots of long-term follow-up with patients and clinic based work as well.
VTCSOM has no affiliated residency program, so this SIG was created to give students more opportunities to learn about urology and better prepare them to match.
Specifically, we aim to develop more research and shadowing opportunities early on, and have established a relationship with the UVA Department of Urology to help with formal advising of potential applicants.
